PAMIRFULBRIGHT
ABOUT THE BLOG
In summer 2018, I received a Fulbright Scholarship to work at the University of Central Asia in the Pamir Mountains of southeastern Tajikistan. I arrived in August, spent a few weeks moving back and forth between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and then settled in the town of Khorog for a year. This blog is for friends, family, and interested folks who want to follow my travels and the work associated with a Fulbright award.
To set the context - I'm a geology professor from Idaho State University. My wife Shannon and I have lived in Pocatello for 30+ years, except for a couple of sabbaticals when we moved with our kids to Oman and New Zealand. My idea of a good time is to find the really remote spots on Earth and then develop a rapport with the people and geology that define that landscape. Enjoy......
