After three weeks moving around central Asia I finallly arrived in Khorog on August 20. It was an overwhelming day - scenery, new campus, lots of new people - but I'll work through it and get into a comfortable routine. One cool thing was traveling from Dushanbe to Khorog by helicopter. Departing in early morning, we flew over the western Pamir Mountains along the Tajik-Afghan border for 90 minutes before landing in Khorog. I sat on the left side so all these pictures are looking east (toward China), but the view was similar to the west (into Afghanistan). These are big mountains.
